UTSEY, Early Jr.- of Montrose, age 63, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center, with his wife Carol by his side. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home. Pastor Jimmie Whitaker of Bethesda Temple will officiate funeral services, as well as a grave side commitment ceremony. Interment will be in Montrose Township Cemetery immediately following. We welcome family and friends at the O’Guinn Funeral home on Thursday from 1-9PM, Friday from 11AM-9PM, and Saturday from 11AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made to the Utsey family.
Early was born July 4, 1948 in Mt. Holly, AR to the late Early and Eva (Lawson) Utsey. He graduated in 1966 from New Hope High School in Arkansas. On January 22, 2005 Early married his love of 28 years, Carol Perkins, at Bethesda Temple in Flint. He was employed by Chevrolet Motor Division in Flint, UAW Local 659, for 29 years. Early was a proud and devoted family member of Bethesda Temple where he selflessly donated his time and services to the preservation of the church. He was a member and leader of the local NA-Hugs not Drugs chapter serving as GSR, treasurer and activities coordinator. In his free time Early enjoyed fishing, camping, working outside, playing dominoes and cards. He was an avid Pistons fan but harbored a love of all sports. Above all, Early’s true passion was the love he had for his family. He enjoyed spending his days filled with the sound of the kids laughing and the comfort of his family surrounding him.
Early is survived by his adoring wife, Carol; Loving children, Angela Sancho of TX, Mark (Lashay) Callon of AZ; Grandchildren, Aaron Sancho, Mark Callon Jr.; Siblings, Earl (Gale) Utsey, Jimmie (Dorothy) Utsey, Eva Butler, Ricky (Julia) Utsey; Cherished Nephews and Niece, Ryker, Ryleigh, and Jameson; Dearest friends, Andrew, Rudie, Philander, Doug and Eddie; Former Spouse, Mary Utsey; as well as many other family and friends.
