SLOCUM-MAYGAR, Irene – Of Swartz Creek, age 86, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Cranberry Park Assisted Living.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the funeral home, Reverend Thomas Blossom officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions, may do so to her daughter, Kathy Anthony. These funds will be used for a memorial at Cranberry Park.
Irene was born in Flint, Michigan on December 29, 1927 and was a resident of Genesee County all of her life.
Irene was a caregiver, homemaker and mother to everyone who entered her home.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Kathryn and husband David Anthony,
Janice and husband Ron Maygar,
Lisa and husband Paul Arden;
grandchildren, Richard Anthony and Robert Anthony, Shelby and husband Nathan Emmitt, Matthew Maygar, Jacob Arden and Noah Arden;
brother, Robert and wife Jeanne McLaren; many nieces and nephews;
sister-in-law, Maggie McLaren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard E. Slocum and John Maygar; brother, Ronald McLaren.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and the Cranberry Park family for all the special care they gave to Irene.
