KALLIS, Harold N. – Of Grand Blanc, age 84, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 2245 East Baldwin Road, Grand Blanc, Father Angelo Maggos officiating.
Burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
Those desiring may make contributions to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.

Visitation 12noon-2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Trisagion Service will be held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Harold was born in Flint, Michigan on June 12, 1927,the son of Nickolas and Vasiliki (Jonas) Kallis and was a resident of the Flint area and Grand Blanc all of his life. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1945 and Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1950. Education was important to Harold having funded scholarships at Michigan State University, The University of Michigan-Flint, Wayne State University and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Seminary.

Harold served as a Board member of Whaley Children's Home and led the Children's Campaign in 1992 and 1993. He served as a member of Leadership 100 of the Greek Orthodox Church.

He was an active member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, AHEPA, Flint Institute of Arts and Warwick Hills Country Club. He enjoyed playing golf and gin, as well as spending time watching the market.

Harold began his career as a stock broker in 1961 with Goodbody and Co. He remained with the company when it was taken over in 1971 by Merrill Lynch and retired in 2004 as First Vice President.

Surviving are wife, Agape;

three children, Mark of Bloomfield,
John and wife Dr. Jean Marie of Louisville, Kentucky,
Carolyn and husband Paul Jokisch of Grand Blanc;

five grandchildren Marie and Sophia Kallis, Bethany, Paul and John Jokisch;

two brothers, William (Penny) Kallis and Louis (Susan) Kallis;

sister, Ann (Gus) Gianakaris;

many loving nieces and nephews,
wonderful friends and past clients.
