Charles “Mike” E. Lare
Age 82 of New Lothrop passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the United Methodist Church of New Lothrop with Pastor Lee Sayer officiating. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00pm with a Fireman Service at 7:00pm, and on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00pm.
Mike was born on October 17, 1932 to Paul and Lena (Bowles) Lare in Swartz Creek. On June 23, 1956, he married Thylia Lingo in Owosso; they celebrated 56 years of marriage before she predeceased him in 2012.
Mike owned and managed “Mike’s 76” for 53 years. He also owned a Shell gas station, worked with the Hazelton Fire Department, and served in the United States Army. In his free time, Mike enjoyed working on Cub Cadets and cars and spending time with his family, especially at his cabin on Houghton Lake.
Mike is survived by his children, Debra (John) Gasper, Douglas (Cheri) Lare, and Cheryl (James) Mason; his 8 grandchildren, Heather (Neil), Kassondra (Nicholas), Kyle, Keith, Michael (Courtney), Savana, Abigail, and Eric; his 2 great-grandsons, Shawn and Owen; his sisters, Maxine Johnson, Lois Chmlear, and Louise Bryant; and his nephew, Jon (Mary) Johnson.
He is predeceased by his wife, Thylia, his parents, his sisters, Pauline, Shirley, Carolyn, and Evelyn, and his brother, Ike.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hazelton Fire Department or Twin Township Ambulance.
