ALLEN, James H. Jr. – Of Swartz Creek, age 71, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Joy Fletcher officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Genesee County Free Medical Clinic, Welch Blvd., Flint or Avalon Hospice.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Allen was born in Rome, Georgia, the son of the late James, Sr. and Frances Allen. Mr. Allen graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1958.
He married Judith Gardiner on December 3, 1960. Mr. Allen retired in 1995 from Buick Motor Division, Factory 25 Steel Yard. He was a Skilled Trades Journeyman Millwright, after more than 30 years of service and was a member of UAW, Local #559. He was proud of his work at Buick and proud of his fellow Skilled Tradesmen.
He loved to travel and spent seasons in Arizona and in Englewood and Lakeland, Florida. He traveled all 50 states. He loved Big 10 college sports (mostly U of M). He loved golf and time with friends and family. He was loved by his wife of 50 years, Judy; two daughters, Linda A. Allen of Chicago and Diane L. Allen and husband Fred Sisco of Flushing. He leaves to cherish his memory, James Allen Sisco, grandson and best friend. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. His loss is felt by his brothers, Phillip Michael and wife Teena of Harbor Beach,
Don Robert and wife Michelle of Florida; mother-in-law, Virginia Gardiner;
