Roy Elton Vied 82, of Flint, Michigan, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019.
Roy is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters Vicky Polk and Pam Gaggin (Steve); grandchildren Shannon, Taylor, Ryan, Christopher, Alysa, Kayla, Gregory and Gillian; great grandchildren Rosalie and Hudson; brothers Truman and Gerald Vied and sister Brenda Hammon. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Preston and Minnie Pearl Vied; sons Bradley and Gregory Vied; son-in-law Jeff Polk; brothers Donald P, Malvin, Clifton, Eugene, Donald R; and sisters Shirley, Pauline and Alma.
Roy was born in Caruthersville, Missouri. After graduating from Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (now called University of Missouri-Rolla) in Rolla, Missouri he moved to Flint and was employed as an engineer by Buick Motor Division of General Motors until he retired. He received an honorable discharge from the US Army. Roy enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as making and sending greeting cards, traveling, golfing, reading National Geographic and genealogy.
A celebration of life will be held at Ainsworth Baptist Church 5114 Van Slyke Rd. Flint on
Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 12 PM. |
