RHOADES, Ralph L. – Of Flushing, at 89, died Monday, January 11, 2016 at Willowbrook Manor.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Ralph was born in Flint, Michigan on October 27, 1926, the son of Lewis and Bertha (Buck) Rhoades and was a resident of Grand Blanc and the Flint area his entire life.
On June 20, 1977 he married Eva B. Stringer.
He was a member of St. Roberts Senior and Retirees, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1030 in Florida and the Retirees of UAW Local #599.
Mr. Rhoades was employed by Buick Motor Division for 39 years, retiring in 1986.
Surviving are wife, Eva;
four children, Judy and husband Ray Cesal of Corunna, Michigan, Janis and husband Ken Chappell of Saginaw,
Randy and wife Sheri Rhoades of South Carolina;
daughter-in-law, Linda Stringer of Chesaning, Michigan;
16 grandchildren;
16 great-grandchildren;
brother, Dallas and wife Delores of Lansing;
sister, Bernice Rayburn of Grand Blanc;
many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret, in 1965; his parents, Lewis and Bertha; two sons, John L. Rhoades and David Stringer; two brothers, Wilbur and Phillip; four sisters, Evelyn Kelver, Pauline Hiler, Phyllis Seleskey and Dorothy Embury.
