JUDSON, John R. - of Fenton, MI, age 81, passed away Feb.9, 2013 at his residence in Clermont, FL. Burial has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Sun., June 2, 2013 at 2 PM at the Lake Fenton United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer Memorial Association of Fenton and Mundy Townships (P..O. Box 154, Fenton, MI 48430) or to the charity of one's choice.
John was born in Lake Fenton on Sept. 10, 1931, the son of the late Robert and Eula (Carpenter Becker) Judson. John married Irene Shafer on Mar. 2, 1951. They celebrated 62 years of marriage. John inherited the family farm which was the original location of the historical Podunk House. In addition to farming, John was a brick layer and a milkman. He delivered milk to homes for Porritt Dairy for 21 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and camping. He was a fixture for many years at Lake Fenton sporting events - taking tickets at high school football and basketball games, umpiring Little League baseball for close to 30 years. He ran the Lake Fenton Athletic Boosters' Bingo fundraiser for 18 years. He kept score for three senior ball teams and helped with the Hospice fundraisers at Clerbrook Golf and RV Resort,FL. He was instrumental in the formation of the Podunk House and Pioneer Museum and served as a Trustee on the Board of Directors. In spite of losing his leg to diabetes, John lived life to the fullest. Up until his death, he rode his bicycle five miles a day around the resort and remained active. John loved being around people and doing for others.
John is survived by his wife, Irene, son William (Julia LaBranch), grandson Joe Burgess, granddaughters Ariel and Brianna Kirby, sons-in-law Greg Ellis and Jim Burgess. John's parents and two daughters, Penny Burgess and Sally Ellis, preceded
