CARLTON, Douglas -- Age 62, of Flint Twp. took his final trip to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. He was in Texas for work when he passed away unexpectedly. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2016 at Trinity Baptist Church, 4222 N. Elms Rd., Flushing, Pastor Seth Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-8 PM and Thursday from 12-4 and 6-8 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek and at church Friday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.
Douglas was born on January 7, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Elwyn Clayton and Barbara Marie (Loewen) Carlton. He married Jeraline "Jeri" Sue Reed on August 4, 1973 in Flushing. Doug enjoyed spending time with his beloved family and his dear friends and was the type of man who never met a stranger. He also loved to travel and was an avid NASCAR fan. He owned and operated Carlton Construction and was a former Flint Township Supervisor, Constable and Trustee. He was also the president of the board of the Flint Heights Terrace.
Surviving are: wife, Jeri of Flint Twp.; children, Tracy Carlton of Grand Blanc, Leighann (Jaft) Sammons of Buckley, MI, Holly Carlton of Flint, Buddy Carlton of Flint Twp.; grandchildren, Max and Marin; mother, Barbara Marie Carlton; sisters, Diane (Dan) Crane of Flint, Renee (David) Juhl of Fenton; sister-in-law Joyce Barajas of Flint; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Elwyn Carlton, mother-in-law Minnie Belle Reed, and brother-in-law Ruben Barajas.
