Ayre, Maureen Kathryn - An incredible woman passed away on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018. All who knew Maureen would say she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Maureen was born & raised in Mt. Pleasant, MI and received her teaching degree at Central Michigan University. She started teaching in Lansing and met the love of her life, John L. Ayre, Jr. from Flint, while performing in a play. His culinary skills, love & patience with family & children won her heart. They married and resided in Swartz Creek, MI, where they raised their 5 daughters. Maureen returned to teaching in the Swartz Creek schools and enjoyed making a positive impact on her students for many years. Maureen enjoyed her retired years with John in Elk Rapids, MI and in the winter enjoyed spending time in Lake Placid, FL, where they have many special friends. Unfortunately, John preceded Maureen in death in 2011 and as she said “she lost her best supporter & friend”. Maureen is survived by her daughters, MaryAnn Pajot, Cheryl (Albert) Werth, Martha (Steve) Poulos, Rebecca (Tim) Boggs and Patricia (Mike) Weber, Grandchildren: Laura (Tony) Pezzuto, John (Carley) Werth, Greg Pajot, Brian (Hannah) Werth, Daniel Werth, Karen (Joey) Ferguson, Chris Boggs, Sydney, Jordan and Aidan Weber. Great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Isabelle Pezzuto, Owen, Max, Henry and Charlie Werth. Maureen always had a beautiful smile and a generous, loving spirit. She loved parades, sunsets, movies, boat rides and especially when surrounded by her family. She was at her best and happiest being the perfect hostess, whether to friends or family. Maureen had an immense inner strength, tremendous determination and was a perfect role model for all of us. Her faithfulness, dedication and unconditional love for her family was an enormous gift. Her beautiful presence with us now will be sorely missed. We love you Mom / Grandma / Nana. Maureen was steadfast and devoted to her Catholic faith. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Maureen, a donation may be made to Sacred Heart Church in Elk Rapids MI. Your love, prayers & support are very much appreciated. A mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elk Rapids on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Spring burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery. |
