SCHNEIDER, Donald R. “Donnie” – of Davison, age 85, passed away October 8, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family. A Funeral Liturgy will be held 1 PM Friday, October 13, 2017 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. Burial will be in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Wednesday; 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday and 12 PM until time of service on Friday. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan School for the Deaf, Alzheimer’s Association or the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Don was born in Flint, MI on March 20, 1932, son of the late Jay Boyce and Wilma (Brown) Boyce. He lost both of his parents at the young age of 5. Don was adopted by his aunt and uncle, Evelyn and Philip Schneider. He married Barbara Wilson and she preceded him in death on March 9, 2000. Don enjoyed farming with his John Deere. He took meticulous care of his lawn and flowers. Don loved spending time with his family. He retired from AC after more than 30 years of service.
Don is survived by his children, Cynthia Bentoski, Rebecca Schneider and Kenneth Schneider; grandchildren, Corey (Kelly) Bentoski, Kendall (Colby) Elkins, Christopher (Caitlin) Bentoski, Sean (Victoria) Selesky and Rachel (Adam) Briggs; great-grandchildren, Clara, Callen, Elizabeth, Emily, Annie, Ryder, Christian, Sophia, Greyson and Corbin; nieces and nephew, Candy, Nancy, Kathy and Robin; sister, Marjorie Davidson; brother, Gerald Schneider. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; son, Steven; sisters, Doris Kellogg and Beverly Coen. The family would to say a special thank you to Dr. Matthew Weiss and his staff, especially Dawn, Hometown Hospice of Lapeer and Candy and Nancy for taking care of the family dog, Casey.
