CHARLAND, Catherine Betty “Cathy” (Wash) – of Davison, age 79, passed away September 22, 2012 at Avalon Hospice. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Monday and 1-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Wednesday at the church. A Scripture Service will be held 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or RRC Dialysis Center – Davison.
Cathy was born in Mt. Clare, WV on March 28, 1933, daughter of the late John and Minnie (Cavallo) Wash. She married Raymond Charland on July 31, 1954 in Flint, MI. Cathy was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and St. Patrick Guild. She was also a member of the St. John’s Altar Society, where she served as President for 3 years. Cathy enjoyed oil painting, cooking and sewing. She dearly loved her grandchildren. Cathy was an inspiration to her family and friends, and her smiling face will be missed by all those who knew her.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Raymond; children, Steve (Sherry) Charland, Renee (Dennis) LaRocque, Brenda (Scott) Wade, Melissa Lusher; grandchildren, Brandon and Bridget Charland, Matthew, Kevin and Andrea LaRocque and Nathan Wade; siblings, Patsy (Clara) Wash, Albert (Shirley) Wash. She was preceded in death by sister, Louise Scherba and brother, Joe Wash.
