BRODIE, Philip Dean -- Age 83, of Fenton, passed away October 20, 2013. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 25, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Interment to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 2-5 PM Wednesday, 2-4 PM and 6-8PM Thursday and 10 AM until time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Curtis-Wolverton VFW Post #3243.
Philip was born on September 23, 1930 in Flint, the son of Lloyd F. and Esther L. (Meeboer) Brodie. He married Wanda Henry on June 19, 1954. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Curtis-Wolverton VFW Post #3243. Philip retired after 33 years of working in the General Motors- Fisher Body Division as a Quality Inspector. He loved to fish on Lake Fenton, hunt, watch soap operas along with all Michigan sports, eat long john donuts and MilkyWay bars, and gamble at the Soaring Eagle Casino. Surviving are: wife of 59 years, Wanda Brodie; two daughters, Phyllis Brodie of Ft. Myers, FL, Barbara Brodie of Mt. Pleasant, son David and wife Sharlene Brodie of Fenton, daughter-in-law Cindy Brodie of Swartz Creek; sister, Rita Wylie of Monroe; grandchildren, Roxanne Szabo, Ryan Nielson, Lisa and Troy Selden, Danny Brodie, Stephanie and Lovern Phelps, Travis and Stephen Brodie; great grandchildren Amber, Phillip and Joey Szabo, Nathan Nielson, Lovern Phelps III, Sara Selden and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Stephen; sisters, Barbara McGinnis, Doris McWilliams, and Joy Waltrip. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
