Lois Ann Thompson (nee Sockman) of Flushing Michigan, age 90, died February 1, 2018. Loving mother of Kris Thompson (Michael Rooney) of Beverly Hills; Mark (Mary) Thompson of Petoskey, Sue (Mark) Weiss of Flint, Carol (Ted) Jastal of Findlay OH, David (Ruth) Thompson of Levering, Linda (Tom) Oelke of Petoskey, and Amy (Pete) Peterson of Tawas City. Born in Ferndale Michigan on July 14, 1927 to the late Wylie and Margaret Sockman. After graduating from Lincoln High School she attended Michigan State University. She graduated with a degree as a medical technologist and worked at Grace Hospital in Detroit. On Sept 6, 1952 she married Charles Thompson also of Ferndale. They settled in Flint where Charles practiced as a physician and was a member of the medical staff at Hurley Medical Center. Lois was also active at Hurley Medical Center as a member of the Auxiliary and as a volunteer on the pediatric unit. Lois was a long-standing and very active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Flint where she taught Sunday school. After moving to Flushing she was a member of Flushing United Methodist Church. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Charles and her brother William. In addition to her children she is survived by her dear grandchildren Patrick and Ryan (Elizabeth) Rooney; Heather (Gary) Hopkins; Michael, Christopher, and Laura Thompson; David, Miriam, Jonathan, and Hannah Weiss; Michelle (Adam) Weingartner, Megan Jastal (fiancé Phillip Spangler), and Katherine (Zach) Carnes; David (Nicole), Matthew(Cara) and Jack Thompson; Natalie, Elizabeth and Tom Oelke; Charles, Daniel, and Neil Peterson; great-grandchildren Evan and Connor Weingartner, Cameron Thompson, Mackenzie Rooney, and Haley and Lucas Hopkins; sister-in-law Marilyn Thompson and niece Ruth Morgano; treasured friends and relatives. Her family dearly loved her and will cherish her memory. Visitation will be held 5 – 8 pm Friday, February 2, and funeral services are 4 pm Saturday, February 3rd at Rossell Funeral Home in Flushing.
