THOMAS, Donald A. – Of Burton, age 54, died Saturday, May 11, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, Reverend Father Andrew Czajkowski officiating.
Cremation will take place following the Mass.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Boy Scout Troop #111 or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison.
Visitation 4- 8 p.m. Tuesday and 12-3 and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Donald will be at the church from 1 p.m. Thursday until the time of the Mass.
Donald was born in Cadillac, Michigan on February 3, 1965, the son of Arthur and Charlene (Sudia) Thomas.
He graduated from Powers Catholic High School and received his Bachelor’s from Central Michigan University.
He was a Boy Scout Staff Leader, Scout Master and Venture Scout Leader.
Donald was an Eagle Scout, Vice Chairman of the New Horizon District and was a District Award of Merit Recipient, Silver Beaver Recipient and a part of the Wood Badge staff.
He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt, fish and was a hunter safety instructor. Don also enjoyed golfing.
He was Chairman of Back to the Bricks-Pinewood Derby.
He was a member of the Elks BPOE and lifetime member of the Linden Sportsman Club.
Mr. Thomas was President and CEO of Thomas Appliance, fourth generation owner.
Surviving are daughter, Emily K. Thomas;
son, Brandon A. Thomas;
life partner, Tina M. Christensen;
mother, Charlene G. Thomas;
sister, Jennifer Thomas-Goering and husband Patrick Goering; brother, Kenneth W. Thomas;
granddaughters, Emma Gettings, Adalynn Gettings, Nora Gupton; grandson, Kaleb Gettings;
nephews, Kenneth and Christian Thomas, Dayton and Lachlan Goering.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur R. Thomas.
