Sandor Lorinczi “Alex” age 83, of Flushing, Michigan, passed away on September 24, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2024, at Rossell Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
Sandor was born on September 30 in Budapest, Hungary. He was a devoted husband for 50 years to Rosemary Lorinczi (née Riscavage), and for four years to Lisa Lorinczi. He was also a loving father to his adult children, Alex and Paul.
Alex was hard-working and dedicated. He spent 33 years as a truck driver for Central Transport in Flint, Michigan, where he was known for his shiny red truck, tireless work ethic, and professionalism. After retiring from Central Transport, he spent nearly 20 years as a truck driving instructor at Baker College’s Truck Driving School, helping others train for successful careers in trucking.
Alex loved playing soccer and tennis throughout his life until his body told him otherwise. Even then, he made time to exercise at the gym. He always kept a clean car, a spotless truck, and a perfectly mowed lawn with sharp edges. In everything he did, he followed a system. "If you don’t have a system, you’re only doing half a job," he often said.
Alex was a great friend and was well known in the Hungarian immigrant community, especially among those who came to the U.S. after the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. They always supported each other. The Lorinczi house was the heart of the community, filled with coffee, cakes, and conversation. Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday, bringing together friends and family for good food and even better conversations.
Alex was the only member of his family to immigrate to the United States. He arrived at the age of 16. Over the years, he frequently traveled back to Hungary to visit his parents and sisters, always making special trips to see aunts and uncles who had been influential in his life. They all cherished when Sanyi came home to see them.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Lorinczi; his sons, Alex and Paul Lorinczi; his daughter-in-law, Tamara Lorinczi; his grandchildren, Andrew Lorinczi and Margaret Morley Lorinczi; his sisters, Katalin Soskuti (née Lorinczi) and Maria Varga (née Lorinczi); as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and to honor his life, we ask everyone to raise a glass and toast to his life.
We find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
