Jerald J. Kittle, age 68 of Durand, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel with Pastor John Walworth officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. There will be no visitation on Monday.
Jerry was born June 28, 1945 in Flint, the son of Delmar and Catherine (Nequist) Kittle. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War, being honorably discharged in 1966. On February 17, 1968, Jerry married Jane Schmidt and together would raise 3 children. Mr. Kittle later went to work for General Motors, retiring from Quality Control at the Metal Fabrication Plant in 2007 after 38 years there. He was a member of the Durand VFW Reed-Raymond Post 2272 as well as the American Legion. Jerry enjoyed classic cars and collecting model boats, but above all he loved the time he had with his family and grandchildren.
Mr. Kittle is survived by his 3 children: Duane Kittle, Shannon (Roger Hemphill) Brooks, Kathy (Scott) Linzey; grandchildren: Austin, Jerad, Katelyn and Logan; his ex-wife and special friend, Jane Robins (Kittle) and his sister, Sarah Muchler.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
