Morgan. Richard W. Of Flushing, age 91, died Thursday, April 29, 2020, at Hyde Park Nursing Home. A private funeral Mass will be held at St. Robert Catholic Church. Burial will be at Flushing Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert Catholic School.
Richard was born in Flint, Michigan on April 27, 1929, the son of Harry and Helen (Luce) Morgan. He was preceded in death by his sister Shirley (prior to his birth) and sister Helen Lavene. He married Suzanne Pierce on November 10, 1951. Richard attended Flint Elementary Schools, Northern High School, and General Motors Institute. He was a dedicated employee with forty-plus years at Buick. Upon his retirement, he spent much of his time as a woodworker creating beautiful furniture, keepsake jewelry boxes, many altars, and ambos in the Lansing Diocese, including those at St. Robert.
One of his greatest joys was having everyone around the backyard pool, especially his grandchildren, enjoying the summer days. His grandchildren were deeply loved and provided lunch at Wendy's whenever possible.
In later years he and Sue enjoyed time spent in Charlevoix. It was common to see him wearing his red Charlevoix sweatshirt and Powers ball cap, at all times.
Mr. Morgan was a proud and loving father, expecting the best from his children; an intelligent man who tutored with patience. He could always be found supporting his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He was a steadfast volunteer and leader at St. Agnes, St. Robert, and Powers High School. He taught his sons and their friends all-things-baseball. He was a kind father-in-law treating everyone as family. His devotion to Suzanne remained strong, setting the example for all.
Richard is survived by his wife of 68 years, Suzanne; six children, Guy (Theo), Gregory (Tacie), Jeff (Laurie), Kathy (Rob Fehrenbach), Mike (Maria) and Matt Morgan; grandchildren, Kelly, Richard (Pam), Kate (Jared), Tyler (Michelle), Mark (Morgan), Tom, John, Matthew (Jennifer), Emily, Kathryn, Caroline, Peter, Hannah, and Madison; great-grandchildren, Vera, Vivian, Willa, Rylen, Sydney, Hudson, and Remington. He was preceded in death by his sister Shirley (prior to his birth) and sister Helen Lavene
The family would like to thank the dedicated and caring staff at Hyde Park Memory Care in Flushing and in particular hospice nurse, Tiffany Cook RNCM.
