PARKS, D.N. – of Montrose, age 85, died Monday, November 24, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Mt. Sinai Lutheran Church, 11356 Seymour Rd. in Montrose. Rev. Allan Lindke officiating. Burial to follow in Montrose Cemetery. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home on Friday from 1-8 PM. He will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to Mt. Sinai Lutheran Church.
D.N. was born in Montrose Township on September 2, 1929 to the late Orien and Leona (Tryon) Parks and lived in Montrose his entire life. He married Charlotte Holmes on June 10, 1948. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2010. Mr. Parks retired from Carling Brewery in 1990 with 41 years seniority. He was a founding member of Mt. Siani Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are: children, Vickie Wenzlick of Montrose, Veronica Lynn (Scott) Van Wagner of Montrose, Larry (Kathi) Parks of Northville; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 great great granddaughters; sister, Irene Puska of Montrose; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: grandson, Tony Shinabarger in 2011; great grandson, Justin Smith in 2014; brothers, Melvin, Howard, Sherley, LeRoy, Grant, Clarence; and a sister, Velma Zubek.
