Marvin Patrick Ostrander
Age 56 of Durand went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 11, 2012, after a two year battle with mesothelioma.
Funeral Services will be held 2pm Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Owosso Church of the Nazarene with Pastor John Ishmael officiating. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Monday from 6 to 8pm and Tuesday from 9am to 8pm with family present 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm.
Marvin was born December 19, 1955 in Saginaw, the son of Lesla Otto and Esther Ellen (Witbeck) Ostrander.
He graduated from Beecher High School, served in the United States Navy from 1974 to 1977, served in the Naval Reserves from 1977 to 1980, and attended Mott Community College in Flint, MI.
Marvin was the heart and soul of his family. He loved nature and being outdoors; he will always be remembered for his passion for the environment.
He married the love of his life Sandra Marlyne Hoover on November 29, 1974 in Flint.
Marvin retired from General Motors - Buick Motor Powerhouse Division as a stationary engineer.
He is survived by his wife Sandy; children Parker James Ostrander of Denver, CO and Angela Lynn (Chris) Elliott, of Pinetop, AZ; mother and stepfather Esther and Glenn Spencer; siblings Sharon (Fred) Quaderer, Christine (Mike) Gasser, Michael (Cathy) Ostrander, Tom (Bev) Ostrander, Jodi (Tom) Goodman; many beloved nieces, nephews and wonderful friends, too many to count.
Marvin was preceded in death by his father Lesla Ostrander, infant twin brothers, sister Kathy Simpson, and nephew Zachary Ostrander.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Corunna Nazarene Church.
