Arthur H. Whitney III “Bud”, of Flint, MI (Genesee Township), age 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 27, 2016, at his residence. Celebration of his life service will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church, 5162 N. Belsay Road, Flint, on July 1, 2016 at 1 PM, with viewing one hour before service, Pastor Scott Southerland and Pastor Bud Welton co- officiating. Burial to follow in Tanner Cemetery (next to church). Visitation will be at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, Wednesday from 4-8 PM and Thursday from 12-8 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church or Tanner Cemetery Association (envelopes will be provided).
Bud was born in Flint, MI on November 7, 1934, the son of the late Arthur II and Vivian (Baumgardner) Whitney. He was a 1952 graduate of Kearsley High School and was involved in sports, known for his pitching ability. He married Sally Ferguson on September 18, 1973. Bud was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his best friend, Roger Morgan. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play ball as long as he was able. Bud was self-employed and has been retired from A.H. Whitney Heating and Cooling, Inc. for several years.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Sally, of 42 years; daughter, Lynne (Mike) Schanick; sons, Ted (Tina) Whitney and Bud Whitney IV; grandchildren, Brendan, Emily, Evan Schanick; Ryan, Luke, Zac, Nina Whitney; Buddy (Jennifer) Whitney V, Paul Whitney; Melissa Whitney; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Connie Hallwood; several brothers- and sisters-in-law (Ferguson Family), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Michael and Stephen. The family would like to give special thanks to personal caregiver Merrianne Rodgerson, neighbors, Todd and Jill Brewer and Art and Cindy Miles. Bud’s wife, Sally, dedicated her time to take loving care of her husband during his illness of frontotemporal dementia.
