Clifford Louis Krampe was born on December 15, 1925, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Deloras (Fischer) Krampe. Educated locally, Clifford attended St. Michael’s Catholic School in Flint. Heeding his call to duty, Clifford enlisted in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge on February 19, 1946. During his time in the service, Aviation Machinist’s Mate Third Class Krampe earned a Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. Upon returning to civilian life, Clifford would work as a general contractor. His dedication to his work was admirable, as he would always maintain work and provide the best quality to his customers. Clifford met, fell in love with, and married Kathleen Smith on May 18, 1945, in Memphis, Tennessee. Their marriage would be blessed with three beautiful children, to whom Clifford cherished deeply. Sadly, she preceded him in passing on April 1, 2000.
Devoted in his faith, Clifford was a longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church until it closed in 2020. During his time at St. Michael’s, he would volunteer in the St. Joseph Guild and assist with lawn care and general maintenance. After its closing, Clifford would become a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and would volunteer for the Mother Mary Rosary Makers by assisting with making rosaries. He was also a former member of the American Legion Post #64. In his free time, he would play his guitar, rebuild his 1928 Buick, and listen to Johnny Cash.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children: Richard Krampe, Linda and husband, Robert Hayes, Mark and wife, Bonnie Krampe; his five grandchildren: Tim and wife, Terri Hayes, Matt and wife, Mary Hayes, Kerrie and husband, Justin Bancroft, Kira Krampe, Thomas and wife, Ayana Krampe; his 11 great-grandchildren; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Clifford was preceded in passing by his wife of 55 years: Kathleen Krampe; his parents; and his four siblings: Kathleen Crutchfield, Dorothy Miller, Robert “Bud” Krampe, and Leo Krampe. |
