ROZBORIL, Melba Frances (Whiteside) – of Flint, Grand Blanc and Davison Township, age 87, passed away peacefully into heaven on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Genesys Health Park surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness. A Christian Service will be conducted 12 PM Friday, June 15, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Roger Gedcke officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Sunset Hills Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 5-8 PM Thursday, June 14, 2018 and 11 AM-12 PM Friday, June 15, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the charity of your choice, in Melba’s memory.

Melba was born at home in Flint, MI on August 25, 1930. She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1948 and went to her first paying job as a book keeper at Michigan National Bank followed by book keeping jobs at B & B Paint and Dupont. Melba married her high school sweetheart, Matthew J. Rozboril, Jr. on June 20, 1953 at Flint’s Oak Park Methodist Church. She joined Matt in Columbus, Ohio until he was drafted into the U. S. Army following his graduation from MSU and employment at North
American Aviation. The Army sent Matt to serve during The Cold War in the 7th Army headquarters near Stuttgart, West Germany in 1954. Mel joined him there in 1955 until he received an honorable discharge in 1956. While in Stuttgart, they bought a new 1956 VW Beetle and toured in Bavaria, Austria, Italy, Monaco and Switzerland. She loved their cottage in Boyne City and boating on Lake Charlevoix and the Great Lakes including the North Channel. Most of all Mel loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Following Army service, Matt hired in at GM’s AC Spark Plug Division and they built a new home in Flint. They then moved to Grand Blanc and finally after the kids left and the dog and cat passed, they moved to Davison Township. They spent winters from 1996 until 2015 as snowbirds on the gulf coast in Orange Beach, AL and Panama City Beach, FL. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the wonderful care from the girls at the Genesee-Hurley Cancer Clinic as well as Dr. Jim Walter, Dr. Paul Adams, Dr. James Kure, Dr. Talha Idrees and Dr. John Sullivan.

Melba is survived by her husband, Matt; sons, Michael John (Susan) and Daniel James (Sandra); grandchildren, Sean (Nicole), Christopher (Kendra), Dylan and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Dominic and Rhys; sister-in-law, Vera Hale; niece, JoAnn LaFear and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Dennis; sisters, Geraldine Smith and Shirley LaFear; brothers, Donald and Richard Whiteside; sister-in-law, Patti Whiteside and brother-in-law, Nelson LaFear.
