SCHRETTER, Carolyn Anne (Voight) – of Lewisville, TX, age 75, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held 3 PM Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. The family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service.
Carolyn was born in Flint, MI on April 21, 1938. She married James Voight in 1957 and they lived in Davison, MI. Carolyn attended U of M and received a Bachelor’s Degree with honors, majoring in German, in 1974. Carolyn began thinking about God’s purpose in her life after she was seriously injured in an accident that also took the life of her oldest daughter, Bethany, in 1971. After the death of Jim in 1972, she joined Lutheran Bible Translators and moved to Sierra Leone, West Africa with her three remaining children as a missionary translator to the Krio people from 1975-1980. Upon returning to the states, she began working for Wycliffe Bible Translators in Dallas, until she retired in 2005. During this time, she married William Adams in 1984 and after his death, Frank Schretter in 2005.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Kevin Voight of Ft. Worth, TX, Randy Voight of Weatherford, TX and Connie Zurek of Holly Springs, NC; mother, Mella Williams of Hiawassee, GA; sister, Sheryl Wickham of Hayesville, NC; and seven grandchildren.
