Helmer, Patricia Ann of Flint, age 61, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at McLaren-Flint. A memorial service will be held 11 a. m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Flushing United Methodist Church. Rev. Debbie Line-Yencer will officiate. Visitation will be 10-11 a. m. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Flushing United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Patricia was born in Flint, Michigan on November 27, 1953, the daughter of William and Elsie (Knutson) Cross. She was married for 41 years to her beloved husband, Daniel Helmer. Patricia started her career as a secretary at Trinity U.M.C. that continued over 36 years. She was a member and past president of the Detroit Conference United Methodist Church Secretary’s Association. Patricia was an active member of the church, who always put others before herself. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, and was very creative, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Daniel; two children, Jeffrey (April) Helmer, Jamie (Scott) Hoffman; grandchildren, Allison Helmer, Lucas Helmer, Brett Hoffman, Sean Mailhot, Aubrey Harper (Wesley); great-grandchildren Aiden Harper, Payton Harper; brothers, Jerry Cross, Rick Cross; sister, Nancy Cross, several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elsie Cross; brother, Robert; sister-in-law, Marsha; and grandson, Andrew. |
