vonDAGGENHAUSEN, Klaus Walter - Of Swartz Creek, age 68, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,

Pastor Dr. John Lewis officiating, with a military service under the auspices of Byron VFW Post #5822 Honor Guard.

Cremation will take place following the service.

In lieu of flowers: memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church of Davison, MI and/or Home & Hospice Advantage.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 11-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Klaus was born in Wolgast, Germany on July 4, 1943, son of Theodore and Ella (Reimer) vonDaggenhausen. Klaus immigrated to Flint, Michigan in 1957 from Germany with his parents, Theodore and Ella (Reimer) vonDaggenhausen and five siblings. He learned to speak English from school and television. After graduating from Southwestern, he enlisted in the US Marine Corp to serve his adopted country. At the age of 23, he became a US citizen. After his honorable discharge from the Marines, he married, attended Mott Community College and completed an apprenticeship with General Motors. He retired a skilled tradesman March 31st, 2004. He was an adventurous traveler and an avid lover of history and archaeology. He was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, and celebrating his German heritage in Frankenmuth. He passed that love on to his children and grandchildren. On October 7, 1966, he married Karen Kay (Walker) vonDaggenhausen, at Covenant Baptist Church, Flint, MI. Klaus was a member of Davison Faith Baptist Church, Byron VFW, and Durand Eagles. Surviving are wife, Karen; Children, Richard (Angela) vonDaggenhausen, Melissa (Brian) Morley, Michele (Phil) Bennett; Grandchildren, Brooke vonDaggenhausen, Keighen, Callahan and Maegan Morley, Evan, Morgan and Baby Boy due in March Bennett; Siblings, Horst (Charlotte) Kruger, Lothar (Margo) vonDaggenhausen, Werner (Mary Lynch) vonDaggenhausen, Theodore (Lisa) vonDaggenhausen, Irmgard (vonDaggenhausen) Ralph Oestman; Many family, friends, nieces and nephews in America and Germany; In-Laws, Mae (Walker) Jim Pope, Winfred (Carol) Walker, Deanna (Walker) Anthony Morningstar. He was preceded in death by, Father (Theodore vonDaggenhausen), Nephew (Deitrich Kruger),Sister-in-law (Christa vonDaggenhausen).
