SMITH, Rachil "Smitty" -- Age 71, of Swartz Creek, died November 26, 2012 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, November 28 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Pastor Jim Nelson officiating. Graveside services 2 PM Thursday, November 29 at Esmond Evergreen Cemetery, Hale, MI. Visitation 2-8 PM Tuesday, 11AM until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. He was born August 9, 1941 in Moulton, Alabama, the son of Ellis Roy and Maggie Mae (Culver) Smith. He married Kayleen Greve on November 6, 1964 in Clio. In 1976, Mr Smith started his own business, Standard Oil Station, which throughout the years evolved to Smittys Towing and Service, a family owned and operated business. He was a member of the Moose Club and the Eagles. He enjoyed bowling, trips to Las Vegas and Mt. Pleasant, playing cards with friends, and his grandchildren. He was big hearted and very generous. Surviving are wife of 48 years Kayleen, three children, Sherrie Smith (Steve Edgar) of Swartz Creek, Kevin Smith (Michelle Dewilde) of Burton, Kathy Lord (and husband Sandy) of Flint Township, grandchildren, Emily Fields, Brian Fields, Kylie Smith, Jory Lord, Kenzey Lord, Kassidy Lord, and Jacob Smith; great-grandson, Ethan Fields, sister Shirley Parker; many special friends, too numerous to name. He was preceded in death by his parents; and six siblings. The Smith family extends a special thanks to the special nurses in McLaren CCU and everyone at Avalon Hospice.
