JACKSON, John R. Sr., - of Mt. Morris, age 94, died on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at McLaren Flint. Honoring his wishes, cremation will be taking place. A memorial service will be held at 12:30PM, Monday, August 5, 2024, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. John Montney officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 10AM until the time of service at 12:30PM. Inurnment to follow at 2PM in Great Lakes National Cemetery – Holly, with full military honors.
John was born March 6, 1930, in the Bronx of New York City. A proud veteran, John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a man of courage and integrity. He married his beloved wife, Merry Gill, on January 1, 1954, sharing many cherished years until her passing on November 14, 2003. After 40 years of dedicated service, John retired from General Motors in 1990. Following retirement, John truly enjoyed life’s simple pleasures such as fishing, feeding the ducks at Steppingstone, and trips to the casino. An avid NASCAR fan, he found great excitement in watching the races. He was quite the jokester, and you could always find him with a smile on his face. Above all, John cherished the time spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. John’s loved ones were the pride and joy of his life, and his unconditional love for them knew no bounds.
Surviving are: Son, John Jr. (Ranee); Daughter, Tonya (Ben); Grandchildren: Joni Rae (Jeff), Kyle, Ryan (Haley), Jacob (Livi), Kamaryn, Dave, Blaire, Jay (Megan), Great grandchildren: Karysn (Michael), Brooke (Nolin), Chandler, Brandon (Aleeha), and Farah; Great-great grandchildren: Maya, and Colton; Many loving nieces & nephews; Special niece, Laurie; Special friends: Mary Lou, Sharon, Judy, and his Bray Rd. Diner family; Special caregivers: Granddaughter, Joni Rae, Heather, Kathy, Dawn, Nurse Marcus, Chris PT, Kasie Lechel NP. John was also preceded in death by: Granddaughter, Adrian.
