PERSONS, Una Marie – of Montrose, age 96 died Monday, March 5, 2018 at Brag Assisted Living in Clio. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 9, 2018 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Chaplain Jerry Larkin officiating. Burial in Montrose Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2018 from 6-8 PM and on Saturday from 10AM until time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions can be made to the Veteran’s Bell Memorial, P.O. Box 317 Montrose, Michigan 48457.
Una was born October 27, 1921 in Kaplan, Louisiana to the late Adonis and Leona (Landry) Mire. She grew up in the Kaplan area and has resided in Montrose for the last 73 years. On January 2, 1943 she married Gail Persons in Gulfport, Mississippi and he preceded her in death. Prior to her retirement, Una worked for AC Spark Plug for 17 years. She volunteered for the cub scouts, Montrose Historical Museum, Montrose Telephone Museum, and the American Cancer Society. Una enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her family. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are: Son, Gail (Cindi) Persons; Grandchildren, Alysha (Dave) Kirkwood, Melissa (Greg) Wiley; Great Grandchildren, Bennett Kirkwood, Emmory Kirkwood, Milo Wiley; Special Cousin, Lillie Adams; several Nieces and Nephews; Special Friends, Jan Keeler, Carole Kuzniar. She was preceded in death by her Daughter, Patricia Persons; Siblings, Laura (Molear) Bertrand, Laurent (Eula) Mire, Harry (Eula) Breaux, Marjie (Dallas) Breaux, Verna (Floyd) Patin.
