MAJCHROWSKI, Monsignor Anthony P. – Of Flint, age 96, died Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at All Saints Catholic Church, G-4063 West Pierson Road, Flint, Bishop Earl Boyea officiating.
Burial in All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Powers Catholic High School.
Visitation 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m.– 3 p.m. 5-7 p.m. Friday at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Friday followed by a Knighrts of Columbus Council #695 Memorial service at the funeral home.
Monsignor Majchrowski was born December 24, 1918 in Flint, the son of Michael and Mary Majchrowski.
He attended All Saints grade school and graduated from St. Michael’s High School in Flint in 1937.
He began his priestly studies at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, where he completed his college education in 1941. He then attended St. Mary Seminary in Norwood, OH, where he received his theological training.
On June 3, 1944, Anthony Majchrowski was ordained a priest by Bishop Joseph H. Albers at St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing.
In 1945, Father was assigned as assistant to the rector at St. Mary Cathedral. A year later, he was assigned to All Saints as assistant to Father Stanislaus Bortnowski. Upon the death of Father Bortnowski in 1955, Father Majchrowski was named Administrator of All Saints Parish.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #695 and #510 Assembly.
Father Majchrowski had been a priest for 71 years.
Surviving are brother, George and wife Dorothy Majchrowski of Fenton;
nephew, Lawrence (Carolyn) Kiszka of Fenton,
Michael (Michele) Majchrowski of Fenton and
Frank Majchrowski of Burton;
nieces, Catherine Robison of Fenton,
Rita (James) Kennedy,
Maria Majchrowski of Fenton,
Gloria Majchrowski,
Debra (Donald) Rust of Byron;
several grand-nieces and nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents; sister, Sr. Mary Berchmans, S.S.J.; sister, Helen Kiszka and brother, Frank.
