AMES, Marion Delores – of Clio, age 89, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. She died surrounded by her family and other loves ones. Marion suffered very little and shared the Lord’s Supper with all present. She is now in eternity with Christ and the love of her life, our dad. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 7PM Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Messiah Lutheran Church – 520 Butler St., in Clio. Vicar Adam Flanick officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Sunday from 3PM until the time of service at 7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church - music program.

Marion was born September 17, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Marvin and Thyra (Johnson) Ames. The family moved to California, then later to Boulder City, Nevada. Marion met and married Jack Douglas Ames of Flint, Michigan while he was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. The couple moved to Clio, Michigan after Mr. Ames’ honorable discharge from the Air Force, where they raised four children.

As a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Marion served in several capacities, including: Sunday School Teacher and leader, member of the Ladies Guild, handbell, adult choirs, and caregiver for MOPS program. She worked for over 30 years as an elementary school secretary, and in the risk/benefit office before retiring in 1998. Marion served both Vice Chair and Chair of Unit 140, Local #591, and SEIU for several years. Following retirement, she volunteered as recording secretary for the Greater Flint Area Service Council, National MS Society, and as a family partner with Habitat for Humanity.

Surviving are: Sons: Michael (Cathy) Ames, and Jeffrey (Lisa) Ames; Daughters: Karen Zuwala, and Vicki Ames; Grandchildren: JJ, Misty, Paul, Joel, Mark, Evan, Spencer, Curtis, and Karen; Great grandchildren: Dustin, Brianne, Gabrielle, Hannah, Asher, Colby, Heather (Mark), and Sabrina (Evan); Brothers: David Heineman, and Fred (Donna) Heineman; Sisters: Joan (George) Chabra, Sandi (Tom) Noltenmeier, and Barb (Don) Baxter; Very special friend, Millie Paxton; Several nieces, and nephews.
