CHIROS, Theoni – Of Grand Blanc, age 92, died peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2016, surrounded by her family.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at
Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 2245 East Baldwin Road, Grand Blanc, Father Angelo Maggos officiating.
Burial in Gracelawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Trisagion service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Theoni was born in Greece on February 16, 1924.
She married Tom Chiros on August 28, 1949 and immigrated to the United States shortly thereafter.
Theoni was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and a past member of Philoptochos Society. She was known to all as Yaya, loved to crochet and cook Greek food for her family.
Yaya would crochet baby blankets and donate them to area charities. But the light of her life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Nick and Jeanette Chiros,
Dena and Phillip Altheide and Maryann Frost;
grandchildren, Kelly and Lance Redlich,
Tom and Tara Altheide,
Scott and Nicole Altheide,
Jared and sister Courtney Chiros,
and her best buddies, great-grandchildren, Mason, Reese, Dayne, Ava, Max and Jackson.
She is also survived by brother, George and Sophia Margaritis;
loving godson, John and Karen Kaloydis; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, parents and two brothers.
We will miss you Yaya.
