Monnie Josephine Swain of Holly age 84, died Saturday February 28, 2014 at Churchill Farms Assisted Living, Lapeer. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday March 3, 2015 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, Downtown Davison. Pastor Ron Osborn Jr. officiating, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm Sunday and 1-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions in Monnie’s memory to Churchill Farms Adult Foster Care. Monnie was born in Bentley Michigan on September 3, 1930 the daughter of the late Robert & Henrietta (Fox) Pittenger, and had resided in Holly since 1966. She was joined in marriage to Ernest Mathew Swain on September 30, 1948 in Angola, Indiana and he precede her in death on august 29, 2010. Monnie had been employed by Kroger’s in Lapeer for thirty years retiring in 1992. She leaves her children: Karen Newbury, Kathy & Tom Berry, Michael Swain, Pat & Kelly Swain, and Ellen & Bob Berry. She also leaves her seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, her sister Judy & Neil Cooley, and brother Al & Peg Pittenger. Monnie is preceded in death by grandson Scott Matthew Berry. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Paul & Liliane and everyone at Churchill Farms AFC and Cora of Hometown Hospice for their support and compassion they showed to Mom.
