ASCENCIO, Raymond F. Sr. “Chopper” - of Flint, age 64, passed away October 11, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center, Goodrich. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2500 N. Franklin Ave., Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Fr. Santhiyagu Arockiyasamy celebrant. Cremation will follow the Mass. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. A Rosary will be prayed 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. On Monday, there will be visitation at the church for one hour prior to the Mass.
Raymond was born in Saginaw, MI on September 21, 1948, son of the late Francisco C. and Cleofas M. (Elizalde) Ascencio. Raymond married Visenta M. Soto on August 9, 1969 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Flint. Raymond was employed by AC Spark Plug/Delphi from 1968-2000. He enjoyed fishing with Roger. Raymond played Fast Pitch Softball at Whaley Park. He also enjoyed the Michigan Wolverines and Conjunto Music. His grandchildren were his greatest love.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 43 years, Visenta; children, Angela (Kris), Michele (Adan) and Raymond Jr.; grandchildren, Elena, Marisela, Lorenzo, Roberto, Ava, Gabriela, Raymond III, Alejandro and Armando; siblings, Frances (Roger) Lange, Joanne Aaron, Kelly Clady and Charles Clady. He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Anthony and Andrew Ascencio. Raymond’s family wishes to give a special thank you to his sister-in-law, Olga Soto-Brown and Genesys Hospice Care.
