GILL, Neil Allen – of Davison, MI, age 92, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Monday, May 20, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Matt Thorpe officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 5-7 PM Sunday, May 19, 2024 and 10-11 AM Monday, May 20, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Church, 6434 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506, in Neil’s memory.
Neil was born in Flint, MI on April 3, 1932, son of the late Edward and Jeanette (Hamilton) Gill. He married Gwendolyn “Gwen” Reed on March 10, 1951, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Flint, MI. Neil dedicated four decades of his life to CSX Railway, retiring in 1993 with a legacy of commitment and hard work. He was not only a devoted employee but also a pillar of his community. Neil's altruistic spirit shone brightly through his involvement as a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross, and his dedication extended to volunteering at church blood drives. At Emmanuel Church, Neil's presence was felt deeply. For two decades, he served as the dedicated driver of the Sunday School Bus, ensuring that every child had access to education and fellowship. Neil's passions were as diverse as they were enriching. From watching old musicals to honing his skills in woodworking and building, Neil found joy in every moment. He possessed a sharp intellect, evident in his love for game shows and his adeptness at solving Sudoku puzzles. Neil will be fondly remembered for his kindness, his generosity, and his unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the remarkable life of a truly exceptional man.
Neil is survived by his loving wife, Gwen Gill; 4 children, Rick Gill, Trudy (Don) Clark, Randy (Terri) Gill and Linda Gordon; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Jeanette Gill; brother, Warren Gill; daughter-in-law, Holly Gill and son-in-law, Gary Gordon.
