SCHLAUD, Erika (Pfarr) – of Flint, MI, age 85, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 3222 South Genesee Road, Burton, MI 48519; Pastor Mark Matheny officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, in Erika’s memory.
Erika was born in Neckarsulm, Germany on February 10, 1939 to the late Josef and Frieda (Schuler) Pfarr. On May 24, 1958, she married James Schlaud in Flint, MI, and together they created a beautiful life until his passing on August 13, 2005. A devoted member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Erika's faith was a guiding light in her life. She had previously been an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the Davison VFW 4087 Ladies Auxiliary, where she formed lasting friendships. Erika found joy in the simple pleasures of life, dancing, watching and caring for her dogs and wild birds. She also enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and spirited games of Euchre, Skip-Bo, and Greedy. Most importantly, she treasured the time spent with her family and friends, whose lives she touched with her spunk and infectious laughter. Erika leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a spirit that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all.
Erika is survived by her daughter, Joanne (David) Barr; 2 granddaughters, Jaimie Barr and Kaitlyn Barr; son-in-law, Jerry Passow; brother-in-law, Paul Schacher; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josef and Frieda Pfarr; husband, James Schlaud; daughter, Sandra Passow; 2 sisters, Frida Schacher and Irmgard (Eduard) Lang; niece, Diane Dunn; great-niece, Shannon Church and brother-in-law, Joseph (Marcia) Schlaud.
