MATSKO, Robert "Bob" of Flushing, age 85, died Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Fostrian Court Assisted Living. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019, at St. Robert Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry Street, Flushing, Mi. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday until time of service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert Catholic Church of Flushing or Holiday Park Campground in Traverse City, Mi.
Bob was born on May 23, 1933, in Flint, Michigan to Michael and Anne (Marzonie) Matsko. He married Phyllis Bueche on June 11, 1960. Bob served four years in the United States Air Force and was a proud Korean War Veteran. After his service he earned his Master's degree in teaching from his favorite school, Michigan State University, and spent his years of teaching at Randels Elementary for Carmen-Ainsworth schools. Bob was very active in his community both locally and up north, serving as a member on the Flushing City Council and on the Flushing Planning Board. He also served on the board of directors at Holiday Park as both a board member and as President of the member owned campground. In his retirement Bob worked with the Flushing Police Department in the S.A.L.T. Program, Seniors And Law Together.
Bob is survived by his brother, Jack (Jan) Matsko, sister-in-laws, Beverly Matsko, Rebecca Baker & brother-in-law, Larry Letts; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis; brother, Jim Matsko and sister-in-law, Catherine Letts. A special thank you to Heartland Hospice and Fostrian Court staff for the wonderful care they provided to him.
