MILLER, Raymond Leroy -- Age 81, of Flint, died October 21, 2016. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday October 26 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 609 E. Fifth Avenue, Flint. Fr. Tom Firestone celebrant. Entombment will follow at the New Calvary Mausoleum, Flint. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Monday and 11 AM - 3 PM and 5-8 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. A rosary will be prayed at 7PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held 10AM until time of mass at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the Charity of ones choice.

Raymond was born September 7, 1935 in Flint the son of Leslie T. and Nellie (Curran) Miller. He was a graduate of St. Michael Catholic High School in 1954. Raymond married Kathleen L. Sherwood on June 21, 1958 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Flint. He was employed by Buick Engineering and Cadillac Luxury Car Division retiring in 1996 with 34 years of service. He was a member of the UAW Local 599 for 34 years. While working at Buick, Ray began delivering experimental vehicles and show cars. Before long he began delivering confidential mail to GM vice presidents and executives. After gaining their faith and trust Ray was soon welcomed into their homes and began driving wives and children throughout the Flint and Detroit area. Ray was a life time member of St. Michael Catholic Church, past president of the men's organization. He was a past member of the parish council and an usher for many years. Ray was also Bingo Chairman at the church for over 18 years. He was always proud of his Irish heritage. His early ancestors began coming from County Down, Ireland to Canada in 1842 then on to Michigan. They then traveled by wagon train to Kansas.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Miller; children, Debra "Deb" Miller, Diane (Greg) Childers, Linda Thompson; grandchildren, Kayla (Bryce), Blake, Trent, Noah; great grandchildren, Blake Jr, Savannah, Cohen, special nieces and nephews, and grand pets, "Woof pal", Katie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Chuck and Robert.
