Baldwin, Paul LeRoy age 88 of Montrose, formerly of Flint, left to be with the Lord Dec. 12, 2011. Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at Court Street United Methodist Church 225 W. Court St. Flint. Family will receive visitors form 4-8 pm Thursday, Dec. 15 and from 10-12 and 1-8 pm Friday at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint. Family will also receive visitors from 10 am until time of service Saturday at the church. Burial in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Paul was born April 4, 1923 the son of M.D. and Wilhemina (Eckstein) Baldwin in Mayfield Twp., MI near Kingley, and moved to Flint at age 12 and lived in the area the rest of his life. He attended Northern High School but left school to enlist in the United States Army during WWII. He landed on Omaha Beach on D Day and went to serve in Rhineland, Northern France and Central Europe. He became a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Upon returning home he was joined in marriage to Ethel Snyder and fathered 4 children. Paul coached his childrens little league teams and was an avid bowler. Paul worked at Chevrolet Parts and Service and retired in 1972 after 30 years of loyal service. Paul and his wife owned and operated "the little store" on the corner of Grand Traverse and Wood Streets and was later employed as a school crossing guard at Doyle Ryder School. He was a longtime member of Court Street United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School, drove the church bus, ushered and was a member of MMC. Paul was an avid Detroit Tiger fan and often dressed in Tiger hats and gear. He tried to watch every game on T.V. Left to cherish his many good memories are his children Constance (Tim) Pangle of Montrose, Pete ( Kleta) Baldwin of New Lothrop, Daniel (Jamie) Baldwin of Swartz Creek and Catherine (Derrick) Layne of Flint Twp., 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, sisters Esther Wheeler and Ellanora Dine of Kingsley and Brother Clayton Baldwin of Mesick. Paul was preceded in death by his wife Ethel, his brothers Donald, Garfield and Jay. A very special thanks to the wonderful staff at Cranberry Park Assisted Living in Clio and the professional caring members of the Avalon Hospice team. Memorials may be directed to the Court Street United Methodist Church or Avalon Hospice. |
