TOMLINSON, MARTHA JOYCE – Of Flint, age 88, died Friday, August 30, 2024 at her home.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no service held.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County, G-3325 S Dort Hwy, Burton, MI 48529. Donations can be made at their website in memory of Martha Tomlinson as well as by mail. This was her request because of her beautiful cat, Pumpkin.
Martha was born on February 28, 1936 in Davisboro, Georgia, the daughter of the late Willie and Myrtle (Clark) Marsh.
On January 2, 1954 She married Charles Francis Tomlinson in Aiken County, South Carolina.
Martha was employed by General Motors as an executive secretary for 35+years.
She loved bowling on teams with her husband and did so for many years.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Would help anyone who needed help. She was very creative with her sewing projects and had beautiful flower gardens at her home.
She loved her cats and dogs and many strays along the way. She couldn't stand to see any animal hurting or going hungry.
After retiring from GM, she looked forward to her weekly lunches with "the girls" that were also retired. When her Dr. asked her how she stayed so vibrant and full of life she said, " My 2 vodka and tonics every day, my cigarettes, my cats, and my wonderful family." She will forever be in our hearts.
Surviving are daughter, Karen and husband Mark Flesher;
grandchildren, Gabe Vargo, Justin Vargo, Nathan and wife Harmony Vargo, Bruce Flesher and Emilie Flesher;
great-grandchildren, Tyler Vargo and Madison Vargo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles aka Chuck Tomlinson.
