Ronald J. Rider, age 77, of Attica, formerly of Flint, died Monday June 11, 2012. Mr. Rider was born July 5, 1934 in Flint, Michigan to Leo and Genevieve (Rau) Rider. Ronald graduated from St. Matthews High School - Flint in 1952. He married Joan Merrill on October 2, 1954 in Owosso, Michigan. Mr. Rider drove truck for United Motor Freight and Blue Arrow for over 30 years, where he was also a union steward for the teamsters. Mr. Rider was an Elder in the Pokagon American Indian Tribe. He enjoyed golf, fishing and snowmobiling.
Ronald is survived by his wife: Joan Rider of Attica; children: Patrick (Joan) Rider of Flushing, Rick (Diana) Rider of Flint, Dan (Robin) Roth-Rider of Wolverine and Judy (Donald) Vohwinkle of Flushing; 8 grandsons; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings: Richard (Kay) Rider of Florida and Bob Rider of Argentine, Michigan. Mr. Rider was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Genevieve Rider.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House. Visitation will be 1-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the funeral home, with burial in Attica Township Cemetery.
