Barbara J. (Hemingway) Finger, age 67, died on December 26, 2017. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on May 12, 2018 at the Otisville United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM. Barbara was born on February 19, 1950 to Leland and Mary (Davis) Hemingway and resided in Otisville, MI as a child. She was a 1968 graduate of LakeVille Memorial High School and received a degree in education from UM-Flint. Barbara served her entire career as an elementary teacher at Birch Run Area Schools. On August 1, 1992, she married David Finger. In retirement, she enjoyed wintering in Las Cruces, NM, where she continued her life-long passion for reading and was actively involved in activities supporting her local library. Surviving is her husband, David Finger; step-son, David Elliot Finger; mother, Mary Hemingway; two sisters: Connie Hemingway and Leanne (Gary) Hemingway-Ciampa; and niece, Jordan Hemingway. She was preceded in death by her father, Leland Hemingway; and sister, Judy Forslund. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for The Children's Reading Alliance, 3880 Foothills Rd #A, Las Cruces, NM, 88011. |
