LEWIS, Richard Dean - Of Flushing, age 74, died Friday, June 14, 2013 at McLaren-Flint.
A Memorial Service will be held 12pm Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, with inurnment of Dick’s cremains 2pm Wednesday at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Reverend Jeffrey L. Jaggers officiating.
Visitation 11am Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Flushing American Legion.
Richard was born in Celina, Ohio on April 25, 1939, the son of the late Dean and Mary Lewis. Dick married Phyllis Lucas on December 29, 1962 in Celina, Ohio. He graduated from Celina High School, Class of 1957. Dick served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962. He received his Bachelors in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. Dick retired from the Flint Police Department as Lieutenant in 1993. Dick was a member of Flushing United Methodist Church, Flushing American Legion, Fraternal Order of Police, Flushing Lions Club and the Moose Lodge of Flushing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles and camping.
Surviving are wife, Phyllis;
children, Sandra and husband George Baker of Flushing, Richard and wife Sherri Lewis of Grand Blanc, Michael and wife Lisa Lewis of Grand Blanc;
grandchildren, Andrew, Samantha and Jessica Baker, Ryan and Kyle Lewis;
brother, James and wife Su Lewis of Florida;
special nephew, David and wife Dixie Duncan of Alabama;
and several nieces and nephews.
