Robert H. Murphy, Jr., age 84, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. He was born on March 6, 1932 in Flint to parents Robert and Thelma (Schmitzer) Murphy. Robert proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He also served as a tool and die apprentice with GMI and was a member of the Die Cast Engineers, and later retired in 1988 from General Motors as a Senior Design Engineer. In his earlier years, Robert enjoyed playing golf. Robert is survived by his son, Kevin (Krystyna) Murphy; grandchildren: Erin (Jay) Bonahoon, Rachal Murphy, Libbi (Anthony) Sallee, Kevin J. Murphy; four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents; wife, Norma Jean (Arnold) Murphy; son, Robert H. Murphy III; sister, Patricia McNew. A funeral service will take place at 10am on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, with Father Gary Koenigsknecht celebrating. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 1-8pm and on Saturday, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9am. Interment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. |
