Hammond, Minnie of Flint, formerly of Flushing and Lake George, age 92, died Saturday, October 3, 2020, at her home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2020, at Faith Missionary Church. Pastor Brent Kriesch will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the church. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Medical Team Hospice.
Minnie was born in Mason, Michigan on June 7, 1928, the youngest of six children to Frank and Lelia (Hotchkin) Wythe. She married Frank Hammond on June 6, 1953, in Mason, Michigan. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2002. Minnie loved children and spent many years babysitting and always had extra children in her home she lovingly took care of. After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Lake George for 35 years where she was active in the Senior Center. Minnie loved to bake and was often requested to bring her famous lemon pie to gatherings. She also enjoyed knitting and crochet. Minnie was a member of the Red Hat Society and TOPS and a garden club. She was a people person who loved life to the fullest.
Minnie is survived by her children, Roy (Patti) Hammond, Eileen (Roger) Lawrence, Linda (Ken) Brandell; grandchildren, Jonathan (Donice) Hammond, Susanne (Jeremy) Browning, Jesse (Becky) Cahill, Heather Brandell, Amanda (Robert) Soto, nine great-grandchildren; special family friends, Ann Strnad; Matt (Kim) Strnad and their two children; brother-in-law, Carl Hammond; sister-in-law, Dee Hammond; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. |
