Age 61, of Mt. Morris, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at McLaren Flint. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Martin Funeral, Cremation and Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Dearest friend and Minister Stephanie Ridley to officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. On Tuesday, family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 2:00 pm. Shelby was born on June 26, 1963, in Anniston, Alabama, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joel and Wanda (Weaver) Dover, Sr. Educated locally, she graduated from Beecher High School as part of the graduating class of 1981. Shelby was an employee of McLaren Home Group for 20 years and grew to love many she worked with there. She had a passion for photography and would always make sure to capture a moment so it could be cherished forever. Shelby would teach her family members how to pose for staged pictures, while also making sure to obtain the candid picture as well. Shelby had a love for movies and television. She would spend her time watching Lifetime Movie Network, Hallmark Channel, and her favorite: horror movies. Out of them all, one of her favorite movie franchises was Halloween. Most of all, Shelby had a love for her family. When faced with illness, Shelby would tend to her parents to make sure they were well taken care of. Shelby had a very large heart and would do anything for anyone.
Left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Joel S. Jr. and wife, Miriam Dover, Belinda Garcia, and Bobbie Dover; her “babies”: AJ and special friend, Sarah, Ricky “Richard," Alissia “Bunnies," Brittany “Delores," Serena “Pooh," and Cami; her “grandbabies”: Mason, Carmen, Lawson “birthday buddy," Nolan, Xavier, Nayeli “Ellybug," Matthias “Tthias," Autumn, Isabella “Bella," Baby Jacob, and Baby Walker; her special cousin: Tewanta; as well as many beloved family members and friends, including her best friend: Stephanie Ridley.
Shelby was preceded in death by her parents: Joel and Wanda Dover Sr.; and her sister: Joellen.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at McLaren Flint Intensive Care Unit and ICU nurse, Nancy. The care and attention provided to Shelby is well appreciated by the family.
