October 23, 1939 – March 21, 2025
Mr. Edgar Ray Pitts, of McKinney, Texas, formerly of Grand Blanc, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2025, with his beloved wife, Liz Pitts, by his side.
Ray was born on October 23, 1939, in Ripley, Tennessee, to Solon and Eva Pitts. At the age of three, his family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he spent his childhood. After high school, Ray proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
A passionate bowler, Ray earned numerous awards and trophies, including several prestigious 300 rings. During the summer, he found joy on the golf course and in the tranquility of fishing on local lakes.
In 2001, Ray retired from Buick City after more than 30 years of dedicated service. As a proud member of UAW Local 599, he served as a UAW Employee Assistance Representative, always striving to support his colleagues.
Ray leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 47 years, Liz; daughters Melanie Comarcho and Jennifer Jackson of California, Valerie (James) Searcy of Texas; stepdaughter Xantheia (Jethro) Carter Jr. of Grand Blanc; and Stepson Charles (Lola) Dudley of Texas. He was a proud grandfather to Jade Comarcho, Jazmin Jones, Symone Searcy, Domonique Searcy, and Dontre Searcy, as well as step-grandfather to Christopher Carter, Brittni Carter (Brandon Chatman), and Trevon Calvin. Ray was also blessed with six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Solon Pitts; mother, Eva Pitts; and brother, Loyal Pitts.
Ray will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, passion for life, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will forever be remembered.
There will be no memorial service per Rays request.
