TYLER, James Thomas - Of Flint, age 83, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Monday, February 24, 2014
at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton,
Father Bernard Tyler officiating.
Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
Visitation 5-8pm Saturday and 11am-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, MI, where a Rosary will be prayed 7pm Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Tyler will be at the church 10am Monday until the time of the Mass.
James was born in Flint on April 8, 1930, the son of Nelson and Katherine (Thomas) Tyler. He graduated from the Michigan School for the Deaf, Class of 1949. He retired from GM Truck and Bus Plant after 35 years. James was a standing member of the Flint Association of the Deaf, Deaf Catholic Association, Deaf Sportsman Club, GLDBA Association/Hall of Fame, Deaf Snowmobile Club and Deaf Senior Citizens Association.
Surviving are children, Valerie Tyler-Clark (Jim), Thomas James Tyler, Michael Pomerville (Denise) and Debra Pomerville;
grandchildren, Tyler and Dylan, Jordan, Justin and Tana, James and Jennifer;
6 great-grandchildren;
brothers and sisters, Rosalie “Sally” Felisky and Michael (Mary) Tyler, Father Bernard Tyler, Elizabeth Reger, Theresa (Dale) Glasgow and Jacqueline Boris;
many nieces and nephews;
special niece, Margie Gould.
Known as grandad by many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Kathleen.
