BUCKNER, Lanny M Sr.. – Of Flint, age 63, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Durand Church of God, 10411 Newburg Road, Durand, MI, Pastor Mark Fernandez officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the wishes of the family.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mr. Buckner will be at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service.
Lanny was born in Morehead, Kentucky on March 6, 1953, the son of the late Clyde Buckner and Aileen Howard.
On September 19, 1977 he married Elaine Barnett in Flint.
He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a long time member of the NRA.
Mr. Buckner retired from GM in 2006, after 35 years of service.
Surviving are wife, Elaine;
four children, Lanny, Jr. (Danielle),
Angela (Bill) Ready,
Jason and
Tiffany (Joshua) Mullins;
16 grandchildren;
3 great-grandchildren;
step-mother, Jean Buckner;
siblings, Claire (Bob) Schaaf,
Rob (Mary) Heit, Anita (JD) Owens and Edmund Buckner;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by grandmother, Granny Howard; sisters, Rhonda Holbrook and Brenda Howard; granddaughter, Catie Buckner.
