BENNETT, Robert W. – Of Mt. Morris, age 84, died Monday, July 2, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012 at
Solid Rock Baptist Church, 2222 South Belsay Road, Burton, Pastor Craig Dockery officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012.
Those desiring may make contributions to Solid Rock Baptist Church.
Visitation 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mr. Bennett will be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service.
Mr. Bennett was born in Flint, Michigan on January 2, 1928, the son of Erwin and Thelma (Hubbard) Bennett and was a resident of Mt. Morris.
He married Winnifred Woodward on June 19, 1948.
Mr. Bennett served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and United Baptist Church from 1981-2012.
He was a member and Past President of the West Flint Kiwanis from 1961-2002.
Mr. Bennett retired from Amerisure Insurance Company in 1989, after 34 years of service.
Surviving are wife of 64 years, Winnifred;
3 daughters, Evelyn (Tim) Webster of Reed City,
Charlotte (Chuck) Boggs of Mt. Morris and
Priscilla (Julian) Parker of Lake City, Florida;
grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca and Tommy Webster, Joshua and Jacob McGeachy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Shanor, Shirley Saunders and Jeanine Vrugitz.
